7 August 2024 will go down in history as the day we kicked the racists and fascists off our streets.
The racist mates of Tommy Robinson had planned to set up as many as 100 anti-immigrant “protests” across the country for Wednesday evening on the ninth day of riots, burnt out shops, attacks on mosques and hotels for asylum seekers, and assaults on police and immigrants alike. Make no mistake. It was fast becoming a far right terrorism “carnival” writ large.
But as shown in the cover photo from Birmingham, more than 25,000 counter-protesters took to the street themselves last evening and far out numbered the far rightists.
A sizable number of anti-fascist campaigners joined peaceful rallies in Liverpool, Bristol, various sections of London, Sheffield, Aldershot, Brighton, Southampton, Newcastle upon Tyne , Accrington, and other cities and towns. The far rightists were routed as they faced slogans such as “refugees are welcome here” and “ whose streets? our streets.”
Police only needed to make a handful of arrests of the far rightists.
So today is definitely a day to say “BRAVO!” to our colleagues and comrades from many communities across the country.
But we must remain VIGILANT. It is far from certain Robinson and his mates have crawled back into their putrid holes.
The above is a photo of three anti-racist protesters in Sheffield.

Starmer not acknowledging the role of the anti-racist and anti-fascist spontaneous mass mobilisation in pushing back the hate mongers is yet another proof of his closed , bureaucratic , legalistic mind set.
4 to 500 in an industrial estate on the outskirts of Cheadle, which is on the outskirts of Stockport last night. I have photos and a short video to post of that. IMV it is the small, local actions that matter most and are the best bellweather.
