Checking out RMT leader Lynch from both sides.
And check out the first video we've produced for the new YouTube channel of THE LEFT LANE.
From the summer of 2022 until late 2023, members of the 80,000–strong RMT union organised widespread picketing outside rail stations and depots across the land.
We don’t really need to name or identify for you who is the general secretary of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (the RMT) in the photo below. His face was everywhere in the media.
Now a new book has come out called “MICK LYNCH: The making of a working class hero” by Gregor Gall, a leading researcher on trade unions. Gregor assesses Lynch’s role in these strikes and the RMT. The story he tells is not a doting biography or a love-in.
Last week from Glasgow, Gregor sat down at the other end of a 20-minute Zoom call to discuss his “both sides” book that reveals a lot about these strikes and about Lynch’s politics you likely did not know. That call led to the first video we have made for our new YouTube channel, The Left Lane Presents .
