Been a generally positive response to article on Greens and expulsions ---- and of course, some negative comments. And more examples of expulsions. This one just posted on my FB page: "
I've just been expelled myself, after the hearing of a two year old anonymous complaint which was heard in my absence while I was on holiday. They insisted on having the hearing in August so I expect it was to get me out before conference and before they heard my appeals relevant to my complaint against Matt Browne and his against me." ++++ I hope to do a good article ( out about Tuesday) on the GP conference itself. ++++ To subscribe ( for free or paid), click here: http://theleftlane2024.substack.com/subscribe
Very disturbing - I had no idea they were so anti women's spaces and are doing f'all on Just Stop Oil sentencing. That is a sleight of hand misleading of what should be a core priority positioning on climate change. I voted Green as did my husband at GE because of Labour's rotten to the core behaviour. Seems Greens are going that way too. I shall be more alert next time.
Have you joined Green Party Women? As the centre of resistance to all the misogyny: why FIVE GPW co-chairs have been treated to "No Fault Suspensions" to silence them for at least two years, even without expelling them -- but most were then expelled too.
Join Green Feminists UK for instructions on which candidates to select / not for various posts, which motions to deprioritise for debate at Conference, and which ones to vote for or against (such long lists, this is really helpful).
Look for the Green Women's Declaration to sign on X.
This Ashley Routh who infiltrated a climate group to shop them to the police typifies the toxic environment of the party. That chain smoking Sian Berry, who has a history of cocaine use, as reported on the news was parachuted to Brighton is beyond me given she cultivated much of this atmosphere.
Sian Berry was probably parachuted into Brighton Pavilion for a number of ressons. Caroline Lucas, elected in 2010 as the first Green MP, was to retire at the 2024 election. Lucas -- herself previously parachuted in, to displace a disgruntled local candidate -- had first been a Green MEP for 10 years.
Berry had been a member for eight years of the London Assembly (a post she resigned to move to Brighton to start pre-election campaigning), a Borough Councillor, and was twice elected co-leader of GPEW: all giving her suitable status and experience to replace Lucas.
And if Berry "cultivated much of this atmosphere" of reprisals and expulsions -- then she was likely an attractive Green candidate to the phobia-indoctrinated transactivists in the LGBTQIA++?! capital of the UK.
A ward in Brighton Pavilion had just elected Brighton's first Green trans-identified male Councillor.
I believe too that Carla Denyer had been heard to say of the GPEW gender turmoil "I'm a bit too second wave for all this".
I know all this as a longterm GPEW member (joined in 1985 when it was the Ecology party) and activist for six years, in Brighton Pavilion where I still lived in 2010. Now I observe it all with from Brighton Kemptown: as a disenchanted GC member that Young Greens would love to expel, who only stays on to vote down their gender cult motions and policies.
This is the centrists taking control of the Green Party because they can see Labour is about to die.
I think this means Greens also dead henceforth, it’s independent pro-Palestine socialists for now, although it won’t take the fuckers long to figure out they can stand their own centrist independents.
I don’t want to move towards a position of advocating revolution but I think they’ve nobbled democracy. The thing is that there’s no reason they can’t also make a false flag revolution, and total anarchy would be functionally the same as unrestrained free market fascism, it would benefit the most powerful most.
Haven’t got a good answer to this. Can’t trust anyone.
Yes, this palestine ‘genocide’ claims is beyond gas lighting towards the only democratic country in the middle east. Particularly given the palestinian politicians call for their genocide
Problem with politics today is people involved like you do not know what you are talking about. Israel is a democratic country, both in terms of its institutions and its legal framework. It has a parliamentary system with free and fair elections, freedom of speech, an independent judiciary, and protection of minority rights.
The country regularly holds elections for the Knesset (parliament), with political parties across the spectrum representing a wide variety of ideologies, including those that advocate for Arab-Israeli citizens’ rights. Arab-Israelis, who make up about 20% of Israel's population, have the right to vote and are represented in the Knesset, with several Arab political parties and coalitions participating in the democratic process.
The only genocide is that perpetrated politically and through actions against Israel. The leaders of hamas have refused a state as they want the destruction of israel. The uninformed even chant ‘from the river to the sea’ genocidal chants at protests.
Unfortunately a lot of Green party members have migrated from the Labour party, bringing with them a lot of Labour attitudes: including the authoritarianism. Some ex-Labour members went back when Corbyn became leader: then trickled back again to the Green party when he was demoted.
Many years ago (late 1980s) a small group of women in Brighton & Hove Green party got so fed up with being ignored or shouted down by all the ex-Labour party men, that we seriously considered breaking away and forming a Women's Green party ourselves (especially as we did most of the work!).
But the party was then so tiny anyway (only 100 members locally, only 10% of whom were active) that we decided reluctantly that it was too small to split.
When we went back to meetings, the men had not even noticed our absence.
And a woman Labour member said to me soon after "You should be pleased when they shout you down! That means they are actually listening!" Not so when being ignored.
So much for the Greens' much vaunted valuing of women. That's also belied by the ease with which GPEW has fallen to the misogyny and homophobia of the gender cult: including its various prominent handmaidens.
But resistance is strong, though protesting voices are silenced pretty fast.
Sad to hear, but not surprising. This is what I mean, tho', when I say such "culture war" issues like crotch-cricketry (which is what I call "gender criticism") don't serve any purpose and only dissipate the energy of the left over unresolvable false "issues". People who bring either face of the wooden penny of "identity politics" don't have the whole movement's best interests at heart.
The guy who got bounced for the "tactical voting" scheme is another matter. A prime (+ here unanswered) question is, what would he have obtained for the GP in return for such a move? It is, + should be, a breach of protocol, yes; but in a case or two with definite, tangible, binding political returns it could be waived, temporarily.
"Tactical voting" should be dead and buried (+ a public funeral held), as a general stance, so the guy who got bounced from the GP over it has the burden of proof here, seems like.
Anyhow, the Greens in the UK, like the Greens here in the US, should not be thought of as the only party the left needs; partially because it cannot wholly contain all of leftism within it. It may be part of the solution to reclaiming the agency the left has lost in both of our political systems; but only if it wants to be a part.
Well the guy who got bounced for the tactical voting is curious given Sian Berry herself was promoting stand downs at conference not too many years back.
I was just sent this press release about a protest outside GPEW conference on Friday. https://greensinexile.org.uk/greens-in-exile-protest-at-party-conference-in-manchester

I am working on a post-conference piece now. Keep the interesting views coming.

Israel is not a democratic country and the genocide is real.

Hahaha. You guys crack me up. Nobody is buying this nonsense any more.
They owned you
